Operation
- When the coil (9) is energized, the armature assembly (7) is attracted into the core of the core assembly (6), opening pilot valve (A). When the pilot valve (A) is opened, the pressure in the pressure action chamber (B) falls, opening the main valve (C).
- When the coil (9) is not energized, the pilot valve (A) closes and the pressure in the pressure action chamber (B) increases, closing the main valve (C).
Water Hammer Relief
- A check valve mechanism is provided on the (E) side of the supply orifices (D) and (E). Supply into the pressure action chamber (B) can be controlled in 2 stages by moving the diaphragm assembly (4). After cutting power, orifice (E) will become blocked when the port of main valve (C) reduces in its opening diameter. Having this slower valve closing speed helps alleviate the water hammer effect.
