Powerful and environmentally-friendly disinfection and oxidation

Ozone systems OZONFILT OZVb are pressurised systems in which compressed air is fed into the ozone generator.

The ozone is generated from the oxygen in the compressed air and simultaneously metered. The integrated air treatment system is designed as a pressure swing dryer. Ozone can therefore be generated safely and reliably even in difficult conditions with ozone concentrations of up to 20 g/Nm³. Ozone concentrations in the water to be treated of up to 12 ppm can be achieved using our coordinated mixing equipment with an efficiency of up to 95%.

In advanced water treatment, a second stage of disinfection is often added to the standard chlorine process. Modern UV or ozone systems minimise by-products, are easy to install, improve water quality and cut operating costs.

Cut consumption – but maintain effectiveness

ProMinent has become a specialist in efficient and easy-to-install UV and ozone systems, reliably serving customers the world over. In difficult conditions, such as when there are high levels of urea and germs, using ozone systems can increase disinfection protection and minimise use of chlorine as the disinfectant. They are prescribed according to DIN 19643 as an additional means of disinfection for hydrotherapy pools in Germany, provided that there is no ultrafiltration in the water treatment.

Ozone-based disinfection offers numerous benefits: No unwanted by-products are produced, the smell typically associated with swimming pools doesn’t arise and there is no need to meter flocculants. Circulation capacity, the supply of fresh water and chemical consumption are all reduced, cutting operating costs.

UV systems are a cost-effective way of reliably breaking down chloramines and safely killing off chlorine-resistant germs. The result is vastly improved water quality. Both ozone and UV systems are well suited to providing reliable disinfection of process water. Both types of disinfection system have the benefit of being very environmentally-friendly. To also suppress all potential microbiological risks, we recommend using metering and disinfection systems too, especially in CIP processes. ProMinent metering systems are an optimum solution for metering cleaning agents and disinfectants while highly efficient ProMinent systems produce chlorine dioxide or ECA.

Many dairies dispose of the vapour water produced during production via the sewer system. But it is often a good idea to reuse some of this water, firstly to cut high disposal costs and secondly to reduce the amount of fresh water used. For example, the water vapour can be used for the recooling towers, to flush all tanks and pipes, as a cleaning agent additive, as control water to flush the centrifuges or sometimes also in mould washing machines. Because vapour water often contains aromas and other organic substances, providing nutrients for germs, it is essential that it is first disinfected. Chlorine dioxide, reliably and safely generated on site with ProMinent’s Bello-Zon chlorine dioxide generation systems, is a cost-effective way of doing this.
